Henry IV of New Britannia was the sixteenth Monarch of New Britannia. As a result of his apathy to politics both before and after his ascension to the throne, Henry's realms would be governed primarily by his stewards and advisers. As a result, the firm dominance of the crown, put at risk in the past during the reigns of previous incompetent or careless monarchs, was for the first time truly lost during his reign, and would remain so until the rise of Edward I to the throne of New Britannia. As a result of having only one child for several generations, the main bloodline of the House of Delmade, as the throne lost some of its authority within New Britannia and the various nobles took more control through various councils, began to wane in influence, remaining the single most powerful bloodline within New Britannia and the world, but no longer with enough power to totally dominate its realm like it had. Henry would not suffer for this, and while viewed as a mediocre monarch by nearly all, was popular with the nobility for allowing them increasing power. In spite of his minimal contributions, his reign oversaw continued New Britannian expansion in both Borealia and Ancientia and the continued erosion of the Britannian Empire, with nearly all of its official territory now occupied by New Britannia and increasing swathes of it being formally annexed on one front, and continued Barbarian invasions eroding its territory on the other.
